School hours: The school day begins at 7:20 a.m. and ends at 3:05 p.m. While this allows some students to take seven periods, most students take six courses per semester (either 1st through 6th period or 2nd through 7th period).

Collaboration schedule: Currently Independence has a fluctuating collaboration schedule to enable and encourage professional development among the staff and faculty. Collaborations are on Thursdays.  This year all fall semester Thursday Collaborations are in the afternoon (early release for students) and almost all spring semester Thursday Collaborations are in the morning (late start for students).
